To help you understand how Osmek works, and easy it is to use, we've created a sample site built on Osmek which you can download, look through, and install on your server to get your feet wet. It's a very simple site with blog, photos, and events pages, that show the basic integration methods you need to know to get up and running fast.
Well, I've been hard at work on Osmek for the last month. A lot of the work and updates I've been doing are going on behind the scenes, preparing things for a full on launch, but today I'm happy to tell you about two new features that I hope will enrich your Osmek experience.
As we draw closer to the official release of Osmek 2.0 we are looking for new users to try out the system. A lot of you who are already using Omsek 1 are already using it, but we want some brand new people to get in and give it a run through. The Osmek server went down today for about 15 minutes due to a datacenter outage at our hosting company Rackspace. From what we understand this outage affected the entire datacenter - thus Osmek.com, and all sites that Kemso hosts. We are awaiting an update from Rackspace addressing the cause of the outage, but we're pleased that they handled quickly and feel confident that they will continue to offer us, and you, the best hosting and service available.
We'll update you when we hear more.
In perparation for the official rollout of the new Osmek system we have overhauled osmek.com. Give it a look! There's a lot more content coming, like a wiki, and resources section. You can now also log in to Osmek directly from osmek.com by clicking "Login" at the top right.
I'm so excited to announce the release of Osmek 2.0 coming in January. Some of you are already using it and I hope it's made your website life easier to manage.
Osmek 2.0 has undergone a complete rebuild using EllisLab's Code Igniter. The system is faster, more secure, and ready for the coming years. Now that we have the core built we're going to start turning our attention to feature additions, building out wiki and resource pages, and an iPhone app.
